Well what a lovely morning Saturday was! 22 fantastic stalls with a stunning range of high quality handmade and vintage items. As always, I had many customers comment to me about how impressed they were with the stalls there – always lovely to hear! I’ve attached lots of photos to show a selection of items that were for sale.
A couple of notes from the feedback (and things I’ve thought of too). Firstly, some stallholders commented on how nice it is to see other stallholders interacting with customers as they walked round – it really builds a lovely friendly atmosphere which is great and actually these stallholders certainly seemed to be making lots of sales! Definitely a good tip – having a chat with customers and having a big smile on your face is always a winner!
Secondly, stallholders commented on how effective they thought it was for me to spend time at the market handing out flyers and sending customers over. My lovely hubby also helped on Saturday so I could spend a bit more time in the hall with everyone. It was suggested that we have more people handing out flyers and I totally agree. I always ask for volunteers to help but only a couple of people have ever offered. Maybe it’s the cold weather..! If you are ever (as a customer or stallholder) able to spare half an hour or so to help stand at the market handing out flyers it would be massively appreciated! There’ll be a cuppa and cake waiting for you on your return! 😉
There were an extra 5 signs out on the roads this month (10 lamppost signs plus 3 A boards) as well as the banner. When I get the next batch of flyers printed, I’ll also add a map to the back. Unfortunately lots of the signs were damaged by the storm a few days beforehand so I’ll do my best to replace as many as I can this month. 1000s more flyers to give out to schools too. If anyone knows of any clubs etc that I could deliver some flyers to as well that would be really helpful, thank you!
Well I’ll see you next month – Sat 25th March at the Working Men’s Club 9am-1pm
So only a few days to go until the 1st Craft & Vintage Fair of 2017 and I’m really looking forward to it! We have a very special visitor too – Jules from BBC Radio Northampton and Three Counties will be visiting so listen to your radio around 11am!
We’ve got a great event lined up for Saturday (Higham Ferrers Working Men’s Club 9am-1pm) with several new stalls. I like to maintain a good mix of stalls to keep an interesting mix of handmade and vintage items for customers. This month I’ve been busy making vintage cake stands, felt ball garlands, felt brooches and magnetic pegs for holding photos etc on the fridge. We’ve also got Scrabble pictures, vintage and upcycled clothes and accessories, furniture and homeware. Phillip will be there with his wood carvings raising money for the NSPCC, there’s fabric gifts such as memo boards and bunting, knitted and crocheted items, cross stitch kits, make your own kits, jewellery, yarn and needles, toys, bags, cushions, fudge and items made from vintage and antique forks! Such a fantastic range and definitely something to suit all tastes!
From 9-10am it will be HAPPY HOUR and all customers who come nice and early can have a FREE HOT DRINK! We’ll be selling drinks and refreshments throughout the morning as always and entry is free so please do come and join us and support your local community! Plus the Farmers’ Market has some new stalls this month too so come and check them out! With Valentines Day only a few weeks away this is an ideal opportunity to come and buy something unique for your other half! See you Saturday!
Well, first of all a very Happy New Year to all! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, it feels like a long time ago now! I’ve got off to a busy start this January with the Craft & Vintage Fairs in Higham Ferrers and have been making lots of bookings for all of this year’s dates. There are still a few spaces at each event so please do let me know if you’d be interested in coming along.. My email address is email@example.com
On Saturday 28th January, we will be holding this year’s first fair at the Working Men’s Club on Westfield Terrace 9am-1pm, at the same time as the ever popular Farmers’ Market. We have a great selection of stalls – lots of lovely handmade items and a growing selection of vintage which I’m really pleased about. I’ve noticed that some craft stallholders have also started selling some vintage items so there’ll be plenty there to suit all tastes! L & D Vintage will be bringing a fabulous range of vintage clothes, jewellery and handbags, while Heritage Vintage and Retro will be bringing lovely vintage and upcycled furniture. Polka Dot Craft, Gift and Vintage will also be selling vintage and handmade home accessories which I’m looking forward to seeing.
We have a great range of handmade items this month including Scrabble pictures, button heart pictures, handmade jewellery, knitted items, yarn and needles, fabric gifts plus lots more! I’ve been busy making cake stands using beautiful vintage plates, cups, saucers and bowls, magnetic pegs to pin photos and pictures to the fridge, felt ball garlands and felt brooches so there really is lots on offer!
9am-10am is HAPPY HOUR! All customers can have a FREE hot drink so it’s worth getting up early and coming straight over! Please do help spread the word about these fabulous Craft & Vintage Fairs by inviting friends on the event page and sharing posts if you like them. It really does help and is much appreciated! I’ve had 6 extra road signs printed as well as 5000 flyers. I gave out 1500 to schools and nurseries this week and am planning to give out about the same next week.
In February we will be using the DOWNSTAIRS of the Band Club on Wharf Road (opposite the Junior School) – we’re not using upstairs any more so no more long flights of stairs! Yippee! At this venue we have more flexibility as we can use the inter-joining rooms. So we will be using the back room as a gift room – selling items which are not handmade or vintage such as Scentsy products which will make a welcome addition. Please do get in touch if you’re interested.
Well I will hopefully see you on January 28th – remember it’s a great opportunity to buy unique gifts for Valentines Day – not long to go now!!
Well it was certainly feeling very festive in Higham Ferrers on Saturday morning! It was freezing cold but Santa certainly put a smile on people’s faces at the Market! He was raising money for the NSPCC, a great cause. There were also some lovely carols played by the Rushden Mission Band which really added to the festive spirit. This month, the Craft & Vintage Fair was held upstairs at the Band Club. We had a lovely range of vintage and handcrafted stalls selling vintage clothes and accessories from the 1940s-1960s, crochet, beaded and silver jewellery, lamps made from pipes, coasters and pan stands, fabric gifts, bath bombs, novelty soaps, cards and a whole range of lovely gifts. As always, these events are free entry and there are refreshments and snacks on offer.
There was a lovely atmosphere and although it was a quiet start, things soon picked up as customers made their way over from the market. Obviously it’s not ideal being upstairs and this will be the last time we’ll be using this room. From now on, if we use the Band Club (already booked for Feb 25th) we will be using the whole of downstairs. This also means more people are likely to see the banner outside and there’s more room for stalls, including a room for a Gift Room (not vintage or handmade!!). Most months, we’ll be at the Working Men’s Club which is much easier for customers to access.
Some stallholders have commented that they are happy to be contacted in case of a cancellation, even if it is last minute. I have decided to start a Cancellation list of people I can contact if a space becomes available at short notice. Please let me know if you would like to be added to this list.
After holding 6 Craft & Vintage Fairs in Higham Ferrers, I am keen to get more feedback from local people. If you have been to one, what did you think? What did you like or what can be improved? If you haven’t come along to one yet, what would tempt you to pop along? I’d love to hear any suggestions.
Finally, I would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all the fabulous stallholders and customers who have supported Rainbow Craft Events this year and wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. I look forward to seeing you at next year’s Craft & Vintage Fairs! #SupportHighamFerrers
It was all going on in Higham Ferrers today! Not only was it the Farmers’ Market, there was also the Neighbourhood Garage Sale and an Artisan Weekend in Chichele College. So lots of people to come to the second Craft & Vintage Fair at the Working Men’s Club.
I spent a couple of hours at the market handing out flyers – lots of positive feedback from people although still many people hadn’t noticed the signs and banners around town advertising the event so I think handing out flyers each month will really help to spread the word! When I went back to the hall I recognised lots of people who I’d given flyers to so at least that shows they had made their way round! The lady running the Artisan weekend also took some flyers to give out which I thought was very kind.
We had a great mix of stalls today including wood turning, wooden planters, upcycled furniture, fabric gifts, jewellery, cakes, crochet, needle felt animals, photographic prints and pyrography (wood burning). Several customers commented to me on how pleased they were with some of the items they had bought and one stallholder commented that some customers had come back to see her from the previous month as they knew which items they wanted to buy. Lovely to hear!
I would still love more vintage/retro stalls so if you know anyone who may be interested please do ask them to get in touch. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
Lots of stallholders have been asking to book dates for 2017 which shows great confidence in the Craft & Vintage Fairs which I really appreciate. I will now start taking bookings for next year. To maintain a good mix for customers I will initially limit bookings to up to 6 per stallholder for 2017 although I am happy to place people’s names on the waiting list for any extra months they’re interested in.
As time goes by, I feel these Craft & Vintage Fairs will become a well established event in Higham Ferrers meaning even more customers. If you enjoyed coming today, please do let other people know!
The next Craft & Vintage Fair at the Working Men’s Club will be on Saturday 24th September 9am-1pm. Free entry as always. See you there!
